May 26 Tuesday, May 26th, 2009Just a quick update about our lives:
We hope you and yours had as much fun and activities as we had over the federal weekend.
We spent the weekend mostly with friends. Traveling from one cookout/bbq to another in which Tiger enjoyed the most food I had ever seen the boy eat. He devoured hamburgers, hotdogs and one ribeye steak, plus deviled eggs, cole slaw and both types of potato salad (mustard and mayonaise).
Gunny and I had a wonderful time visiting our friends as well. He enjoyed a few games of an old sport called lawn darts, while I spent time catching up on gossip with my friends. Of course the continual chatter about one's child is always the center of most conversations.
Tiger will be receiving his official promotion letter this week advancing him along with his new friends to the 7th grade. This success along with the many other ways, Tiger has overcome his past and is becoming a wonderful human being.

So much the norm is the continueing continuity of our daily lives. No, seriously, our lives are really becoming wonderfully the same and the security of knowing what the activities of the day will present by having the same events occur on a regular basis. I know, sounds silly.
As Tiger's school year is beginning to wind down, his academic testing continues. The boy has been practising and studying most of his free time, with the few hours of the weekend to have fun as a boy should have more. But this will continue for another few weeks and it will be over, his mind will be allowed to move to more playful activities and our family will have more time to spend with each other.
Gunny has been feeling moderately well over the past week. His heart being the only obstacle keeping him from having all the activity he wishes to have. He has not been able to get out to the golf course this week, he has had some time with Tiger playing and practising baseball. I know, well I guess the better word is, I feel how Gunny must feel about not being able to have more strength to enjoy the days better. He has sacrifised his own 'playtime' of golf and other things, so he can have a higher quality of activity time with the boy. I guess I shouldn't be amazed by his ability to always place the boy's life in front of his own wants. If only others could be as kind as he is.
As for me, I will be returning to my two day a week work schedule by the end of the month. It will allow me to have more time with the two men I do love so much. Oh one thing I have changed is my hair color. I am now a blonde. I have been thinking about doing this for some time now and finally got the courage up to do it. This has also given us a new "thrill" in our daily lives both at home and while we are out.
The only upcoming news to report is the rapid approach of our Italian friends birth of their first grandchild. We spent Wednesday evening at their restaurant listening to the proud grandfather tease and lay much pride upon his son's ability to produce a boy as their first child. As for the mother-to-be, she spent most of the evening attending to Tiger and the boy enjoyed the extra attention.
Well as for the rest of the weekend? This afternoon we are spending it with our card playing friends. A cookout and lawn games are scheduled. Then on Sunday we are traveling over to our friends home for another afternoon of listening to the men and boys watch a baseball ballgame and I am sure they will have a quick game of their own.
Monday will bring Tiger returning to school and Gunny has promised to take me SHOPPPING! I desperately need to get over to the malls and continue my shopping for summer attire for our family. Tiger needs a better fitting swim gear and shorts. He is growing up and the speedos need to be put away to be replaced by a pair of beachcombers or something similar. Plus it is what the other boys are wearing and I will feel better knowing Tiger has one less thing setting him apart from the other boys.
Well, till next time... May 08 Friday, May 8th, 2009; *Colt's Day by Day*Colt's *Day by Day*

Gosh, what a week does to a boy. Thankfully we are all well and Tiger returned to school this week. With the fear of the H1N1 flu virus now becoming history past, we are trying to restart our weekly life.
It seemed everyone was either completely terrified by the news stories coming from north Texas of school closures, malls closing down and out door activities being canceled or the people in general were completely unconcerned. I guess I fell somewhere between, but more towards the side of becoming scared. Gunny on the other hand was our source of strength and his complete calmness carried us through the stress.
Now I guess the best thing going on is Tiger's baseball and golf abilities are growing more skilled each time he practices. Gunny doesnt golf as often as he had in the recent past, his strength now being centered on the boy's life.
There are other things going on in our lives, such as Gunny's ex seems to be not able to leave us alone. But this is all I wish to mention about those negative things.
I guess I have been somewhat tired as of recent. I'm not sure if it is because of the extra work hours during the week or just not sleeping well. I awaken during the night, usually worried about the same things that have bothered me in the past. Gunny's health, Tiger's biological mother, my own mind telling me I am screwing everything up. But, I guess these things are as they are and one day I will realize I have a good man whom loves me deeply, a boy who is the strongest and most resilient boy I have ever known, and friends who (online and otherwise) whom are always able to make me smile.

Where to start? Well let's see; I guess the best news is we are all doing well, no signs of illness or flu to be found. Although Tiger's school did send home an advisory about the possibility of school closing early this year if any students are found to have the swine flu.
So, other than that the news is quite normal here. Tiger is playing golf and baseball. Golfing with Gunny in the afternoons after school and baseball practise on wednesdays and saturdays. I have taken up another day at my restaurant adding wednesdays to my schedule. Now I work wednesday, thursday, and friday afternoons. Not that I really wanted to pick up another day, but with the extra expenses needed to bring a boy up properly with activities and other things, it became necessary. Plus, the owner and the general manager are both very happy to have me working again. As spring break comes to a close, I might go back to the two day work week, but I am not sure.
Let's see what else is going on? Gunny is feeling better after a slight set back with his heart two weeks ago. It seems to be comeing in waves at times, is the best way I can describe the occasional backstep in his health. We work together to make sure he doesnt over work himself and we have been able to find a friendly pharmacy across the border which allows us to get the few medications needed at a good price.
Tiger is growing - again! The marks on the wall seem to move steadily up the kitchen's doorway, as we mark off his progress with the black marker. The hardest part of doing this is to keep the boy off of his toes and staying on his heels while we measure him against the doorway. He now stands 5 feet and 3 inches, weighing in at 79 lbs. Although a little light for his height, the boy is nearly all muscle and bone.
Gunny has set out an exercise pattern for the boy to do each afternoon before beginning his homework and Tiger has taken to it like a duck to water. Each day the boy comes in from school and changes his clothes into one of the few workout outfits I picked out at the 'sports center' store. The clothing is of the material that clings to the body tightly and I admit this does allow him to look like a teenager, which is how the boy always wants to appear.
Well, I guess this is the current news from South Padre. Hopefully the flu will not come here, but if it does, "no worries" as Gunny would say.
Till next time...

Colt's *Day by Day*
Wow, has it been two weeks? I must say the past two weeks has been filled with many of the same activities, plus a few more.
First off, an update about Tiger and his baseball playing activity. At the beginning I was overly anxious about Tiger becoming involved with so many new people. I had worried he might not be able to process so many new faces, places and attitudes. Also, just signing up wasn't the end of the requirements to play the youth league baseball. There was an initial tryouts camp in an attempt to evaluate each boy's ability, capability and aptitude of the game. So with quieted high emotions Gunny and I watched Tiger run, catch and bat his little heart out. The boy had a difficult time understanding the need to learn the art of "the slide", where you are running towards a "base" then duck under the throwing ball by sliding on the outside of your leg a few steps away from the base. Tiger does have good eye - hand coordination; he was able to catch "fly balls" and throw the baseball while at a full run with reasonable accuracy. His batting skills need more attention, but he was able to reach 1st base once in his five attempts as a batsman.
Tiger was selected by one of the teams to play left field, Gunny had hoped the boy would be the 'shortstop' player but the other boy is undeniably more athletic minded and plays the position very well. So, with more than half of the team in our Ford we travel about the city picking up boys for baseball practice. And it doesn't hurt at all that we provide drinks for the boys on the team to have while they test and hone their skills.
Secondly, on to the beach and watching the boys walk by while on their spring break. Gunny and I have spent a few afternoons down on the beach enjoying the annual 'running of the boys', which is to say to enjoy the college aged guys running about and playing on the beaches of South Padre Island.
Lastly, I have been busy at the restaurant as well. With the business being quite busy because of all the 'spring break' activity, I have added a few hours to both thursday and friday afternoons. This have brought in a few extra dollars to our little family, but most of all the owner and the general manager are very happy to have me working full shifts on these two days. They are also being very supportive of Tiger in his new adventure in playing baseball by showing up at his practice and an intersquad game.
I guess I should hop on and get ready for the afternoon. Hopefully I will not let two weeks slide past before I trot back online to update everyone and share a little bit of our lives with you.
April 01 Monday, March 31st, 2009; Colt's *Day by Day*Ok, Ok...
I havent run away or anything. Let me catch you up on what has been going on and occupying my day.
Tiger came home last week from school with this paper for me to sign. Little did I know I had just signed away all my free time. He is in little league baseball now and yes dear readers, Tiger and the Ford Monstrousity is on the road.
It seems our vehicle is perfect for carrying all the baseball equipment, players, coaches, spectators, family pets, grandparents, (lets see have I forgotten anyone or anything?).
So, I have been behind the wheel of the Ford Behemoth, bring Tiger and a few other boys to and from practice. They have a game scheduled in a few weeks, but it's only practice from what I have been told. The kids will be out of school before the season begins. (i hope).
Gunny and I are doing well. He scored 3 (birdies?) on his last golf outing and I have been at work on thursday and friday. Our housekeeper has asked us for a few more hours and we are attempting to fulfill her request. The two gardens are in full bloom now. We will have fresh vegatables in a few weeks i suppose. At least we will not need to worry about salmonella.
Lets see anything else? Oh yeah, Tiger brought home a game from one of his school friends for the laptop. It's called SimCity3000. and yes, I have become addicted to playing it as much as Tiger is.
March 23 Colt’s *Day by Day*; Sunday, March 22nd, 2009Sunday, March 22nd, 2009 Colt’s *Day by Day* Tiger’s spring break and our vacation has come to an end. We returned home on Saturday afternoon and today spent the day at the beach. This was a double benefit for us, Tiger enjoyed the play in the gulf waters while Gunny and I sat and enjoyed the college boys on spring break. The beach trip also included a picnic lunch with grilled items such as hamburgers and hot dogs. As always, we bring extra snacks for the (one day) friends Tiger makes each time we visit the beach. This day was no different, when lunch time came Tiger brought along three other boys from the beach and all the boys were properly fed. I guess I should highlight a few moments from our past week and to separate out the good moments from one emotional meltdown I suffered during our trip. First the highlights, I guess the best part of the trip was the travel time we spent together in the Ford. I was very surprised to experience just how mentally adjusted Tiger is in spite of his history and his age. He never once complained about the need not to ‘romp’ around the inside of the moving vehicle and he never once whined about the long distances and hours spent inside the Ford. If anyone complained about the many hours of sitting with nothing more to do than to play time passing games, it was me. The second and third best times we had were times spent pool side at the hotels we were staying at. Tiger is an accomplished swimmer now and made lap after lap in the pool then Gunny would have the boy play a game of underwater hunt and seek. These past few days have been a relaxing and revealing time as well. This trip around the gulf states in the Ford allowed time for me to observe Gunny’s never ending patience. No matter what the situation, whether it was downtown traffic, a grumpy person on the street or my emotional meltdown, Gunny would rise to the occasion and not allow a cross word or misguided action to be heard or seen. I guess he just has a different view on life than the other guys I have had in my life, one of his quips is “I never sweat the small stuff” and I suppose keeping that mantra handy is how he is able to disregard other’s slights and out right stupidity. Plus I was reintroduced to Tiger’s kind and generous personality. The boy’s shear goodwill always comes through some how, he never ceases to amaze me in how he is more of an adult than most of the people I have met in my life. I have asked Gunny several times about why the boy acts the way he does and as time has proceeded even Gunny now admits that this is the way the boy acts and not some emotional front the boy has. I guess Tiger has a good role model in Gunny to copy from. I wish I had the inner strength my two men have, but alas I do not. I allow other’s comments and perceived actions to affect me more than what they should. Even when I attempt to allow a rude remark to pass, I relive the moment over and over again in my mind till I simply blurt out a negative remark to Gunny. This brings up my failure to control my emotions and allowing words to slip from my mouth I more than regret a moment later. I guess the week ahead will find more of a return to the normal everyday occurrences as Tiger returns to school, Gunny will have a few days of rest and I will begin the spring cleaning and other activities. I have had a few invitations to become a volunteer in our local community work. Our neighbors are becoming more friendly as the days warm up and the daylight becomes longer. March 18 Colt’s *Day by Day*; Monday, March 16th, 2009 (plus moody blues)Monday, March 16th, 2009 Colt’s *Day by Day* Our traveling holiday: Post Weekend The weekend flew by so fast and with so much activity, I must admit I was to tired to write the page for the weekend. But with a pause today in activity while Gunny and Tiger are off on a golf outing together, I finally have the time to sit down, relax, and drink a glass of warmed red wine. Well, to start the weekend we picked Tiger up from school on Friday afternoon, drove home and while Tiger cleaned up and changed his clothes, Gunny and I finished our light dinner prep. Tiger appears from his bedroom fully dried, clothed and his pants are zipped up! Ok, a little to much drama there, but hey each time he remembers this dressing technique is a small victory for me. We sit at the breakfast table to enjoy the pasta, salad and garlic toast dinner. As Tiger finishes his dinner, he helps clear the plates to the kitchen and waits while I tie up the bag of trash for him to carry to the garage. Of course our housekeeper will be by while we are away, so I am busy cleaning up the kitchen… Our trip begins with the evening drive up the coast, well actually the road is no where near the coast when leaving South Padre. So for the first part of the trip, I take the wheel till we reach the first pit stop. This is a scheduled stop for the boy’s sake and to allow Gunny a moment to walk and loosen up his leg muscles. As with most places it seems, Gunny is recognized by the guy behind the cash register and they have a conversation while Tiger relieves his bladder and I search the snack aisle. Back on the road, we have a round of songs Gunny seems to have ready to entertain Tiger while we drive the mindlessly long and open roads of Texas. The songs are something I would imagine Gunny singing in his youth and I also notice he obviously has cleaned up some of the text. One of the songs is something we heard the other evening on the late night show with Craig Ferguson, something about “the man’s hair being old and gray, and something, something… but he’s ginger down below boy’s… he’s ginger down below”. Tiger gets a real long laugh about this song about how manhood changes a boy’s body and I just sing along a roll my eyes (pretending not to enjoy, of course). Our first port of call appears on the horizon, The port city of Galveston. This city isn’t exactly on the way to where we are headed off to, but it is a good place to stop to enjoy the night and the morning before we continue on our way. With spring break going on, Gunny didn’t want to pay the higher prices the hotels were charging for a one night stay. So, we make a pass thru one section of the city to get the current rates then find the best deal. It saved us over half the internet pricing we had seen over the last month. Mostly because there are fewer college students going to spring break, at least so far. We find a hotel with a spa and unload our overnight bag from the Ford. Oh, I have forgotten to mention, we are driving the behemoth on this trip. Tiger is always in a great mood when we bring the oversized SUV onto the highways and I am adjusting to driving this overgrown boy’s toy on wheels. There is something neat about driving it actually, but I would never admit this to anyone. I find being over and above all the other traffic on the roads to be comforting in a superiority sort of way. So, I occasionally whine about driving the Ford and secretly think with an evil laugh “muah, ha, ha; I’ll get you my little pretties and your little Prius too!” and growl the motor of the Ford for good measure. We order a pizza from the local delivery store, clean up and change into our swim suits to go down to the whirlpool spa. When the pizza arrives, Tiger being helpful, carries the two liter bottle of Coke and the foam cups while Gunny carries the pizza down to the picnic table near the spa. Munch, munch, and a slurp and burp later, the pizza has been devoured by the boy and we head over to the whirlpool. Tiger sits at the edge with his legs dangled into the water and talks about the fun he is having so far on the trip. The boy adds strength to our Lion and this night is no different. Even as he relaxes into the warm bubbling waters of the spa, our Lion is gaining strength from Tiger’s presence and the boy’s charm fills the night Not to skip ahead, but it’s Tuesday night now… So a quick review of what we have been up to: 1) Driving the highways and byways in the Ford Behemoth; 2) Driving the roads and interstates in the Ford Behemoth; 3) sleeping; 4) eating; 5) Driving the… ok I think you understand we have found out that Colt is not to fond of traveling by car. Not to say, that Colt isn’t having a good time mind you, it’s just the traveling and riding and traveling and riding in the same space with very little to do. Ho hum. Tiger on the other hand is having the time of his life. To date, we have count 341 Volkswagen Beetles and Bugs and have heard the air horns of uncounted tractor trailer cab operators. I do wish I had his enthusiasm, the boy is filled with so much joy and unabated happiness. So, having him happy and filled with joy has offset my own feelings about traveling by car. The past few days have been one fun or experienced filled moment after another. Saturday, for instance, brought Tiger’s first encounter with a deceased jellyfish on the beach. Lucky for him, Gunny was within arm’s reach to stop the boy from touching the gelatinous immobile blob and prevented Tiger from a terrible along with painful chemical burn. Sunday, brought our first taste of French styled cuisine for breakfast. Well, that might be an overstatement because most of western culture’s traditional thinking of breakfast is actually French. From the several ways of frying up an egg, the bacon or sausage gravy, the biscuits to even having orange juice and milk to drink is of this origin. Am I drifting? With our destination reached on late Sunday afternoon we arrive at the hotel in the Crescent City. I must admit when Gunny had chosen this as our vacation destination I was a little uncomfortable with the idea. We spoke for days about the not being an ideal place to bring Tiger to for his first spring vacation. But, he persuaded me with thoughts of allowing Tiger to see both sides of this historic city. So we spend the evening in the hotel, resting and recharging our bodies with drink, food and after we put Tiger to bed, a long hot shower with my Lion. This is exactly what I needed, I needed to feel him inside me again and to know through this physical expression how much he does love me. Monday and Tuesday are spent touring the wonderfully recovering and at times quite depressing City of New Orleans. The night life here is still very festive and the people are as always helpful and cheery when encountered. I guess the tour of the rebuilding projects was an enlightening moment for Tiger as well as for me. We rode along listening to the stories recounted by the tour guide of the people’s struggle for survival during the days following Hurricane Katrina. As this day comes to a close, I find myself in a better understanding of the struggle many of us face every day, I am always thankful for Gunny being in our lives. Without him, we would be lost. March 13 Colt's Day by Day; Friday, March 13th, 2009Hi Hi:
Just a quick note to everyone, my page will be going dark for a few days while we are on Spring Break!
